Our client is looking to recruit an experienced Staff Engineer.

Reporting to the Projects Manager, the role includes responsibility for the design and factory testing of electrical and controls systems for use with diesel/gas electricity generating sets and associated LV/MV Switchgear.

Commissioning support of Power Electronics systems would also be required at times.

This will involve the:

Review customer technical specifications and offer documents to determine and clarify the project scope of supply.

Full responsibility for all aspects of technical project management for planning and adherence to project targets (technical and commercial) and milestones.

Creation of engineering specifications and associated documents.

Creation of functional design specifications and support documents.

Creation and testing of PLC and HMI software programmes.

Be a leading member of the Power Electronics team and assist the creation and implementation of new work procedures and design processes.

Undertake product factory acceptance tests and in some instances site acceptance tests.

Support site commissioning work for Power Electronics supplied components.

Present to internal/external customers the ideas and concepts associated with Power Electronics.

Cross functional involvement with other areas of the organisations.

Make design improvement recommendations based on investigation research and test results analysis.

Attend project, production and service meetings.

Adopt a proactive systematic approach to problem solving.

Analyse world wide requirements and components, taking into account reliability, functionality, quality, cost, safety and performance.

Provide leadership and technical assistance to team members when required.

Lead and participate in design FEMA, Risk Assessment and cross functional reviews.

Design for compliance with all relevant European Directives and National Standards.

Experience Required:

Electrical/Controls background ideally gained within the Power Generation Industry.

Extensive engineering experience of LV and MV Switchgear, controls and networks.

Experience with PLC and HMI programming and software design methodologies.

Knowledge of the principles and applications of electrical and manufacturing engineering techniques together with practical manufacturing skills.

A basic knowledge of mechanical engineering principles.

Full knowledge of AutoCAD Design and Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, Power Point.

Mapics and other engineering related tools for which training would be given.

Good Communication skills (Oral and written).

Logical thinking.

Strong organisational skills.

Team working.


Education/qualifications required (classify as essential and optional):

Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or equivalent preferred.

Second Language Capability ideally primary European language preferred (Optional)
