Due to continuing expansion, my client is looking to recruit an experienced Design Draughtsperson to work in their engineering service design team.

The successful candidate will be working on the design and detailing of new products that could include piece parts, fabrications, assembly drawings and printed circuit board design. Engineering experience is required in sheet metal work, plastic injection moulded parts, printed circuit board design, Bills of Materials (BoM) and data entry using Engineering Resource Planning (ERP) systems.

In order to support new product development from concept through to full mass production, the candidate shall be able to: -

• Design and detail mechanical parts and assemblies using 3D CAD (preferably Solidworks 2008)
• Provide the relevant documentation including bills of materials (BoM), detail drawings and 3D models

Passionate about advancing their career by joining a market leading company the candidate will: -

• Be qualified to HNC/HND in a relevant Engineering field with a bias towards mechanical design
• Have a practical understanding of electro/mechanical design gained from an indentured apprenticeship and post apprenticeship experience
• Be experienced in the use of rapid prototyping techniques SLA/SLS/FDM
• Be required to communicate at cross function level internally and liaise with external suppliers during the development of new component parts. Therefore, good communication skills are an essential requirement of this role.

Given the challenging nature of the role and the fact that short time to market is a key objective in the introduction of new product design, effective time management is essential.
